WARNING... Since 2011 Antivirus companies have started to signal computer user that the file download or on the CD contains a TROJAN VIRUS. In fact I can assure you that there are none. I am constantly working to maintain my computers and servers free of whatso ever virus there might be.

There is a simple reason. Upon registration, the software send through the Internet from your computer to my web server the serial number and Name of the software. Nothing else. It also verify each time you open the Book that the book is genuine and legal, not a copy. Antivirus program interpret that as a TROJAN VIRUS, which in fact it is not.

If your Antivirus program mention that there is a VIRUS upon installation or when you did an upgrade of your antivirus program, you'll have to deactivate your antivirus program (NOT REMOVE IT FROM YOUR COMPUTER) only for the time of installation. Afterward, just restart it.

Then you'll need to tell your antivirus program (this varies on how to do it with antivirus programs) NOT TO SCAN the following folder: c:\program files\Variety2012

First, you must at least have this:

  • Pc compatible computer with Pentium Processor (Athlon, Celeron, ??????thlon are OK too)
  • Minimum of 32 Mb RAM
  • CD-ROM 4X or more
  • Screen 800x600 minimum (or characters will be displayer quite small)
Insert CD-ROM into your drive, and the installation program will start by itself you'll have this screen:



1- If nothing happen, double-click on on the desktop of your computer. Select your CD-ROM drive by double-click on it. Finaly, double-click on the file . The installation program will start.

2- If you start the installation program and this screen appear:



Its because you are not connected to the internet. The installation program requires a connection to the internet for the registration. If you are connected to the Internet and still have that screen, it's because the installation software doesn't recognize your Internet connection. In that case, please contact CHAREST INTERNET INC. at charest@boisfrancs.qc.ca to get additionnal help.

3- When the software has established a connection with our server, you must enter the registration form, they are important and they must be accurate:



4- Once all the fields are completed, click on the button CONTINUE, which will appear only when all the fields have been filled. Data will be sent to Charest Internet Inc. through Internet. When this is done, the computer will start copying files to your hard drive and the setup program will start to decompress files. Click on DEPLOY IT! when this screen appear:



5- When files are decompressed click on CONTINUE so the installation program will search your hard drives for Acrobat Reader. It is essential to have Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or more on your computer to read the book.



6- Once the search is completed, the result will appear on that screen:



7- If you have an older version of Acrobat Reader than 5.0, you will have to install version 5.05 by clicking on INSTALL. The following screen will appear:



8- To start to look in the Book of Canadian Coins and Their Varieties, click on
on your desktop or Start menus. Please note that you must have your DISK in your drive at all time.

9- If that screen appear:



Its because the program does not find the disk in you CD-ROM drive where it was in the last place. Choose the proper CD-ROM drive which your disk is inserted.
